My Story
My curiosity for the human body and our ability to flux between sickness and health, became a main focus of mine. During my three years as a clinical assistant at Selkirk Medical Clinic and ski patrolling at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, I was exposed to our health care system and its’ ability to effectively manage and diagnose complicated illness, fight infectious diseases, handle emergencies and ultimately save lives. I also wondered if health, simply was the absence of disease? Or if there was more than being “normal”, within a standard laboratory reference range? If nothing was wrong with you, but you didn’t feel well, did you have options? The naturopathic medical principles inspired me to pursue these questions, providing insights to some of my biggest questions surrounding health and vitality.
After completion of my pre-medical science pre-requisites through TRU and UBCO, I embarked on another 4-year degree, at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, in New Westminster, BC. Naturopathic medicine takes the time to understand illness from a root cause approach, using symptoms as the bodies way of communicating deeper imbalances. I believe naturopathic medicine can be supportive and complementary to our conventional health care system in the pursuit of prevention and thriving, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I am committed to continually seek new information and research to best guide treatment plans and individualize patient care. I am honored to be apart of my patients healing journeys, as we explore the mental, emotional, and physical factors that contribute to their health.
I am honored to be a member in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC), the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (BCNA), and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). I am also board certified in acupuncture, intravenous therapy, and have pharmaceutical prescribing authority in the province of BC.
